Founded in March of 1991, The Manhattan Saxophone Ensemble gained the immediate attention of the New York jazz scene. The group has since performed solo concerts and clinics throughout the United States as well as recording with internationally renowned saxophonist David Liebman on his Owl Records release entitled Classique, (OWL066CD-3800663) and Gunnar Mossblad’s Solo release, Convergence (MMCD-2002). The ensemble’s seemingly overnight success is due as much to their unique approach to the music as to the individual artistry of the members. Together they weave the European classical tradition with hard-swinging American jazz into a virtually seamless fabric. From sensitive lyrical passages to hard driving bop punctuated with creative improvisations. The Manhattan Saxophone Ensemble offers audiences an exciting musical experience that is creative and enjoyable.
